  • B.Sc. (Physics, Maths, Chemistry) Degree with 1st division in 1983 and M.Sc. (Physics with Specialization in electronics) Degree with 1st division in 1985 from Garhwal University.
  • Selected as JRF of DST (Govt of India) and subsequently SRF of CSIR (Govt of India) to work towards the research in Particle Physics and teaching Physics to UG/PG Students at Physics Department, Kumaun University, Nainital from 1985 to 1992.
  • Ph.D. degree (with Excellent Reports) in Theoretical High Energy Particle Physics from Kumaun University in the year 1992.

A. Teaching Activities:

(i)    31 year's experience of Teaching Physics at Graduate/Post Graduate level in various Universities in India and abroad.

(ii)  10 year's experience of teaching different Physics courses at pre-Ph.D./research level in various Universities/Institutes in India and Abroad.

B.  Research Activities: Actively engaged in research from last almost Thirty-two (32) years in the following fields:

(a) Theoretical High Energy Particle Physics: Has made significant contributions on various topics in quantum field theory, monopoles and dyons, GUT’S, Supersymmetry, D-branes and String theory, Quantum spin tunneling and Phase transitions etc.

(b) Particle Physics Phenomenology: Worked on various aspects of quark models and non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics, Constituent chiral quark model, flavor mixing and chiral symmetry breaking. Fermion mass matrices and CP-violation, various issues on Proton Spin Problem including Multi-quark states in QCD.

(C) Material Science: Synthesis and characterization of various conducting and non-conducting polymers and other materials. Swift heavy Ion energetics and Ion-Beam induced modifications in solids.

C. Research Supervision/Guidance:

  1. Four students have been awarded Ph.D. from HNB Garhwal (Central) University.
  2. One student (worked at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun) has been awarded Ph.D. from Saurastra University, Rajkot (Gujrat).
  3. One Student is registered for Ph.D. in Physics (material Science) from HNB Garhwal (Central) University.
  4. Supervised and guided a large number of M.Sc. students for their dissertation in each academic Sessions of the HNB Garhwal University form 1994 onwards. 

D. Conference/Seminars/Symposia/Workshop:

Organized/attended/participated/delivered talks/chaired technical sessions in more than sixty (60) International/National conferences/seminars/symposia/workshops in India and abroad. Participated/presented talks in more than Twenty-one (21) International/ National level special training programme/schools organized by various institutions in India and abroad. Organized several training programme for students, teachers, researchers different fields of biotechnology as well as for progressive farmers of Uttarakhand State. Conceptualized and supervised more than Thirty-seven (37) Research Projects in different branches of biotechnology. Established MOU with several National/International Institutions working in different fields of biotechnology. Organized several conferences/Seminars/workshops as well as delivered talks in such programme organized by various other reputed institutions. Worked for science popularization through popular talks/lectures, articles, exhibitions, radio talks etc.    

Administrative Experience:

(i)Worked as Proctor, NSS programme officer, Asst. Dean Student Welfare of HNB Garhwal University for several academic years from 1994 onwards.

(ii)Chief Election Officer, Election Officer for student union elections of HNB Garhwal University, SRT Campus in different academic Sessions.

(iii)Incharge of student union of HNB Garhwal University, SRT Campus in different academic Sessions.

(iv)Member of Student Guiding and Counselling Cell, campus sports council, campus purchase committee, campus development committee, examination committee as well as incharge/member to many other committees formed by university from time to time.

(v) Incharge Group Head to Snow Physics Division at SASE (DRDO, Ministry of Defense, Govt. of India) Manali.

(vi)Director, Uttarakhand State Biotechnology Department (Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of Uttarakhand) 2010 to 2013.

Research Papers: Published more than Seventy-three (73) research papers in the Journals of international repute. Most of these publications have been widely referred, quoted and cited by various researchers/Scientists, globally.  


Authored/edited Twelve (12) books (mostly assigned with ISBN), Prepared Eighteen (18) training manuals and Five (5) technical reports. Also published several popular articles in different magazines, community radio talks etc.

Education: Matriculation (1975) from Poona Board, Maharashtra with Distinction; Completed Intermediate (1977) from UP Board (1st Div.) and joined Kumaun University Nainital, Uttarakhand. Did B.Sc (1979; 1st Div.) with chemistry, zoology and botany and Masters of Science (1983; 1st Div.) with specialization in inorganic chemistry. PhD: β- Diketonates of Tellurium (IV): Synthesis and Spectral Investigation, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), 1989.

Appointments: Joined Chemistry Department, Kumaun University, Soban Singh Jeena Campus Almora, Uttarakhand as Assistant Professor in the year 1988 and appointed Associate Professor in the year 1998. Since May 2009, working as a professor of Inorganic Chemistry. Joined UKPSC, Haridwar as member on  01 November 2017.

Teaching Experience: (i). 30 years experience of teaching UG and PG courses in Chemical Sciences (ii)10 years experience of teaching Environmental Studies at UG level.

Research Activities: Organo-metallic /Co-ordination chemistry -published 07 papers in the journal of international / national repute; Current areas of research interest Environmental chemistry (Hydro-geochemical studies of Himalayan surface and subsurface water)/Biological treatment of Heavy metals (Bio-Adsorption)/ Chemistry education (Periodic Classification of the Elements)-published- 38 papers. Participated and presented 19 papers in various national seminars and conferences. Six students awarded PhD and seven are doing their research work under my supervision.

Organized two national Seminars-(i) National Seminar on Climate Change Education ( NSCCE-2015) at Uttarakhand Centre on Climate Change (UCCC), Kumaun University Almora Campus, Almora, 18-20 December 2015, supported by U-SERC , Dehradun Uttarakhand. (ii) Emerging Trends in Chemistry Laboratories, Chemistry Department, Kumaun University, Almora Campus, Almora, in collaboration with  U-SERC , Dehradun Uttarakhand,13-17 November- 2016, sponsored  by UCOST, Dehradun.

Other Academic Contribution: Actively associated with National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAP) of Department of Environment New Delhi and Science and Technology(S&T) popularization programs of National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST-New Delhi and Organized 18 programs: (viz.  Science Sensitization workshop for NGOs of UP hills-1999; NEAP- 2000, on 'Air Pollution, causes, health hazards and control'; Workshops on Learning of Science through hands on activities-2001; Popularization of Science through popular science lecture cum demonstration-2002; Training workshop for science journalism/writing-2004; Training workshop on- Status of central Himalayan biodiversity and its conservation strategies through Information Technology,(An activity of Year of Scientific Awareness -2004); Training workshop on- School disaster management action plan -2005; 7 days Motivational Programme for Talented School students of district Bageshwar and Almora -2013)  in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand for different target groups.
